What you’re seeing

  • Ashwagandha renders solid: for stress and anxiety, it is well studied and it works.
  • Black pepper renders half-there: for boosting other supplements, the science is still forming.
  • The woven cord is the rare part: one trial gave both together, and the one trial so far came out ahead of placebo.

Pairs that have been tested+
  • Ashwagandha has been tested with ginger.
  • Black pepper has been tested with turmeric.

These are the combinations someone has actually run a study on. Every other pairing here is air.

Worth knowing+
  • Ashwagandha reads consistently positive here, but its literature is small (136 human supplementation papers, against 4,000 for magnesium) and most trials use proprietary standardised extracts supplied by their manufacturers. The direction of the evidence is real. Its independence is not established.
  • Ashwagandha: The meta-analysis behind the sleep claim adds a warning we should carry: data on serious side effects from ashwagandha are limited, so nobody can yet say whether long-term use is safe. Separately, reviews of ashwagandha flag it as unsuitable in pregnancy.
